How To Roast A Thanksgiving Turkey

Ingredients

To roast a Thanksgiving turkey, you will need the following ingredients: - A 12-14 pound turkey - 1/4 cup olive oil - 3 tablespoons of sea salt - 2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon of garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika - 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme - 2 tablespoons of butter

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. 2. Place the turkey in a roasting pan or baking dish and pat it dry with paper towels. 3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and dried thyme. 4. Rub the mixture all over the turkey, making sure to rub it into the crevices of the skin. 5. Place the butter on top of the turkey and place it in the oven. 6. Roast the turkey for 20 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350°F and continue to roast for an additional 2-3 hours, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F. 7. Once the turkey reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.

Tips

- Don’t forget to baste the turkey every 30 minutes or so to keep the skin moist. - If the turkey starts to get too brown, cover it loosely with foil.
